I’m just coming to the end of the final edit of Hildegard’s fifth adventure. It ‘s the one when she meets The Dragon of Handale. Based on a ‘true’ story it was great fun to write. You might remember that not so long ago I went on a trek into a dark wood in the middle of nowhere to find the stone coffin of the dragon slayer. We found it too. A man with a scythe had to hack the undergrowth away so I could crawl in close and have a look. Thankfully the coffin was empty but there was an intriguing Viking-style pattern round the lid to give some idea of how old it is. The occupant’s name had been chipped away but on good authority I’m told it was Skaur or Scar the Dragon Slayer. Sounds Viking to me and for that reason it would’ve been an ancient story even when Hildegard heard it. It took me an age to write this one as I fractured my wrist earlier in the year and had to type with one finger for months on end. It did something strange to my writing too so I had to go back and do a lot of reworking. But now it’s finished. Hurrah! To find out what happens to Hildegard and the dragon you’ll be able to download the whole story on Kindle or ipad. Don’t forget to lock your door before you start…
